Now back in her home state, Angel Albert is excited to cover stories that impact you. A Sigourney native, Angel grew up in her southeast Iowa home as a Hawkeye fan. But, she later receives Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism at Iowa State University. Though she’s a fan of both her state teams, come rivalry game day, she sticks with her alma mater in the red and gold.
After her days at Iowa State, Angel took on her first television news reporter position in Sioux City. From there, she got a taste of even colder winters in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, working for the ABC station. One of the most inspirational stories she covered was a piece about volunteers who had spent weeks digging in a landfill in hopes of finding the body of a baby, eventually finding it and bringing closure to the community. And, in the winter of 2005, Angel covered a story in the midst of a South Dakota ice storm that left more than 50,000 in the dark, surviving on generators with some rural neighbors freezing in their homes.
Though Angel believes that you can find great stories anywhere you go, there’s an exceptional feeling you get when you’re telling it from home. Des Moines has given a warm ‘welcome back’ to Angel and her high school sweetheart husband, who is an East High Scarlet and also Iowa State alum. They’ve settled down in Ankeny with their two Maltese dogs, Casper and Sugar. In her free time, Angel loves to scrapbook or hit the links, but you don’t want to know how many mulligans she gives herself!
