Cal started reporting for KDSM Fox News At 9 beginning with our first newscast on March 4th, 2001. He's been a central Iowa reporter since 1994 and prior to that reported from Pueblo, Colorado for a Colorado Springs station.

Cal grew up on a Linn County farm just outside of Mt. Vernon in eastern Iowa. After high school, he served in the Navy on board the USS Chicago in the ship's navigation department.

He graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Journalism, reported for the Pella Chronicle and then taught high school in Broward County Florida.

In his spare time Cal enjoys running, sailing, travel and live music... everything from Salsa bands at the Hotel Fort Des Moines and big bands at Val Air and Lake Robbins ballrooms to alternative groups at Hairy Mary's.
