Elias has enjoyed covering central Iowa over the past year, including the Iowa Caucus' in January. He says it was exciting to know one of the many candidates he interviewed will end up being the next president of the United States.

Thus far 2008 has been an accomplishing year for Elias, in April he was honored in Las Vegas at the annual Broadcast Educators Association Festival as the National News Reporter of the Year.

In May of 2007 Elias came back to Iowa after spending four years in Phoenix, AZ.  He spent those years attending the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, where he earned a degree in broadcast journalism.  While attending ASU Elias won several national awards including the William Randolph Hearst National Championship for Television Broadcasting in San Francisco.  He was also awarded best use of news coverage at the annual festival for his story on the anniversary of the summer of love.  Elias wrestled for the Sun Devils at 141 lbs.

In his spare time Elias enjoys playing golf, which was also a former profession in Arizona.  When he is not on the links he's with his wife Niki preparing for the birth of their first son, who is scheduled to arrive in late November.  Originally from Manson, he enjoys being back in his home state where is family still resides.
